Small Ships Mod Cargo Guide: Storage and Trade Runs

Newer versions of Small Ships Mod let certain ships carry cannons, turning a trade route into a battlefield. Winning a naval fight is about positioning and timing more than raw firepower.
Larger sailing ships are the natural gun platforms. Cannon support, placement and ammunition differ by mod version, so read the changelog for the file you installed before planning a warship.
Cannons fire from the side of the ship, so you aim with the whole hull. Turn parallel to your target, hold a steady speed and fire as the target crosses your side. Against moving ships, lead your shot slightly in the direction they are travelling.
Keep ammunition in the ship's storage so it is on hand in a fight. Fire in controlled volleys at close to medium range rather than emptying everything at long range, where most shots miss.
On shared servers, agree on combat rules first: where fighting is allowed and whether sunk cargo can be looted. Sinking a friend's trade ship by surprise is a quick way to end a server's naval era.
